Lovely Words Vol. 30

Welcome to the January 31, 2011 edition of lovely words. This is the final post for Lovely Words and Writing as a Sacred Art for a while as they are both going on hiatus. I find that I am blessed with so much work that it is difficult to find balance and do everything to the best of my ability. Therefore, I choose to focus on a few projects and do them well, rather than, spread myself thin. I want to personally thank each and every reader who has supported LW and WASA; and there are not enough words to articulate my heartfelt gratitude to the writers who have contributed to LW. May you all have blessed and peaceful lives. Check back periodically for post, also WASA will be out in book form with a lot of extra material added in the not so distant future. Once again thank you so very much for your support, I hope everyone is encouraged to begin the practice of cathartic writing. Please enjoy this edition of Lovely Words.

He introduced me to Pike’s Place Market in downtown Seattle. (In fact, it was his idea.) Pike’s Market is one of the most famous places in Seattle, if not *the* most famous; and it’s right on the waterfront. The market is one of the oldest continually operated public farmers’ markets in the United States. Basically, they had EVERYTHING.”

The Blinking Cursor

By C. J. Stegall-Evans

Every morning I wake up to do battle with the blinking curser on my computer screen. I doesn’t say anything it just blinks as if to say “Come on already.” I’m sure its mocking me. Whoever came up with the idea that the cursor should blink is indeed a sadist.

After I pray, I lie in bed knowing its waiting for me. Although I have ideas while lying in bed I’m not quite sure how to implement them. I drag myself out of bed, write in my journal, watch the sunrise and proceed to do battle.

I know I can do it, I do it every day, but somehow there this underlying notion that this is it; I just cannot write today. What do I do? I write anyway. I write because I cannot allow irrational fear to keep me from doing what I most love to do in this world.

I sit back, relax and have a soothing cup of tea; my passion for writing begins to flow; I embrace the cursor in all its sadistic ways. It is no longer the enemy but simply a tool with which I craft my art.

Happy January

By C. J. Stegall-Evans

Happy January, everyone! Well another year is upon us and I have not quite gotten over last year. I apologize for my long absence but it was necessary. As last year was nearing an end I realized I still had a lot of work to do to fulfill my 2010 goals. A couple years ago I gave up making New Year’s resolution in favor of setting goals.

When you make a resolution, it’s kind of like a wish you make it and let it go. Setting goal is different. Setting goals means putting in writing what you want to accomplish and the steps you plan to take to achieve the desired outcome. When you make a resolution you usually let it go by the end of January, whereas, your goals follow you throughout the year. In fact it is difficult to set new goals for the coming year if you did not accomplish your previous goals. Not accomplishing your goals is letting yourself down; especially since all you have to do is put in the time and effort.

After you have put in the time and effort if you still do not succeed, that’s okay, but not even trying is never acceptable. Thank you so very much, to all my readers for being so supportive. I will begin posting on a regular basis on Monday. Please don’t forget to set goals for yourself this year. I pray all of you have a blessed, peaceful, and prosperous year.
